mozzer models
I am planing a New layout heres the background to the railway Longroyd Bridge & Bargate Railway History of the railway. The Longroyd Bridge & Bargate Railway opened in 1899, just 9 months after the L&BR. The railway was built to move wool around the Valley . At the opening of the railway, the line ran from Linthwaite goods via Titanic mill to the Globe mill, with a branch off to James Dyson Ltd Dyeworks & George Cook Ltd Longfield Dyeworks, running down Manchester road. Quickly the line expanded up & down the valley with most mills having at least one siding, with the Titanic mill having the largest yard At 1st coal for the mills boilers were transferred into narrow gauge wagons, but as the line got bigger the amount of coal moved was taking to much time. So the railway ordered some transporter wagons to move the standard gauge wagons. The Longroyd Bridge & Bargate Railway added to some of the rolling stock orders, that the L&BR had placed. The only differences were - the coaches were in Varnished Teak livery. Also the locos were from other loco builders. After WW1 the railway bought ex-WD wagons. The main traffic is - chemicals/dyes & wool products that came in & out of the local mills & dyeworks plus coal. When the L&BR closed is 1935, the Longroyd Bridge & Bargate railway picked up some of the stock from the scrapmen that attended the sale. 100_6773 by Mozzer models, on Flickr
