RailWest
A short distance west of Highbridge 'C' signal-box (renamed Highbridge East 'A' in BR days) was its Down Home signal (18). The rear of this signal often appears in pictures taken from the footbridge looking towards the wharf. Apart from that arm, the post also carried a (fixed) Down Distant arm for Highbridge 'B' and also a subsidiary arm 17PULL, all on a lattice post.Originally there was also another arm on the post at the top, facing the opposite way, which was the Up Starting signal (6). Photographic evidence shows that this arm had been removed by Oct 1951. There is circumstantial evidence that it was still in place in the mid-1940s.Can anyone help please to narrow down any further the timescale for its removal?
