gazmanjack
Hi all, I am after info on the positioning of a starting signal for a small shunting plank that is under construction. I'm not sure whether it should be at the end of the platform, alongside the short straight point or after the curved point opposite the signal box (which is actually a sheltered ground frame). Here is a drawing of the layout. Any help/guidance is much appreciated. Cheers, Gary.
bécasse
Unlikely to be a signal. Trains - presumably passenger are m.u. or push-pull and freights are propelled in - would run into the platform road, the key on the end of the staff would be used to unlock the ground frame, shunting would take place, the ground frame would be locked again and the train would depart from the platform road. Propelling freights into a terminus was unusual in the UK but examples include Bembridge (IoW) and Holywell Town (North Wales).
