Seaford to Brighton Railway 150

I see that Steam Railway mag has already mentioned this but I've not seen anything on this forum yet. So, on Saturday 7th June we are due to get a steam special down the Seaford Branch as part of the Seaford to Brighton Railway 150 celebrations.

http://www.railwaytouring.net/uk-day-trips/seaford-to-brighton-railway-150-years-celebration-special-steam-train will give you all the information but essentially the plan is for Olly Cromwell to be on the front and a 33 on the back. As part of the celebrations the local Rail Partnership have asked Newhaven & District MRC to put something on that day, so since our clubrooms are virtually right next door to the Harbour station we will be opening up for visitors. Plans have not been completed yet but we expect Borchester Market, Kiln Road and Ventnor layouts to be up and running, maybe a few more. If anyone has any other details of events going on along the line that day then just join in.

The re-run on the Sunday is not definitely going to be hauled by 70013, but it might be. Lots of engines and lots of tours have had false starts lately and some tour operators can be prone to promoting what they *wish* to run.

5305LA has a few information streams:

Hope this helps!

Tom,

Don't like the sound of that. I seem to remember reading that Olly Cromwell was originally down for a special in the Bristol area on June 7/8, that was cancelled. There are 3 of us who were booked on the RTC Cheshireman with Olly Cromwell and that was cancelled, so when they offered the Sunday down to Seaford with the same engine we transferred the booking. Seem to remember we were due to have Sir Lamiel some years ago from Brighton to Faversham and that ended up with a Black 5, it was still good though. The latest paperwork we have from RTC shows the Sunday special now departing from KensingtonO, luckily we can get there via Clapham Junc.

Further details of events on the Brighton-Seaford line can be found at - http://www.sussexcrp.org/brighton-seaford/150th-events.html

Tom,

Must say that we are disappointed, it is going to be Tangmere on the Sunday, not Oliver Cromwell. We've had Tangmere down here before on a Spitfire run to Faversham. Should be ok for casual viewers though, two different locos on different day.
