RMweb Gold Trevellan Posted April 3, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2014 I am very pleased to see that Paul Crowther has been named as the next Chief Constable of British Transport Police. He should succeed Andy Trotter later this year. I first met Paul at a security briefing in London around 2006 and he made an immediate positive impression. By coincidence, I was talking to one of his mentors barely three weeks ago and asked if it was likely he could succeed Andy Trotter. Apparently, it is unusual for a Chief Constable to come up through the ranks in the same force. Therefore, while not surprising, Paul's appointment is certainly out of the ordinary. However, he seems able to steer a safe and sure path between the political and practical aspects of the job, so in my humble opinion BTP will be in very good hands. Sincere congratulations.
