(no connection) No wonder NR has some very poor records - these look as if they were GWR, then WR 'cabinet' items held by the Chief Civil Engineer's office. On privatisation they were distributed among various companies who took on parts of the WR maintenance etc and were thus spread out - looks as if they in turn simply dumped them or sold them off whereas in fact they should have gone back to NR when civil engineering responsibility went back in house. But as so often no doubt nobody cares about proper maintenance of old records any longer although they ought really to be at York, Swindon or Chippenham if they are surplus to requirements in the industry.
