Dazzler Fan
I am trying to research the Cab and Back Boiler detail for No25a,"Dazzler" associated with Writhlington Colliery up to 1930. It was one of three small colliery shunters cobbled together with standard parts at Highbridge Workshop.I have most of what is available from my library, and repeated on the internet The Reversing Gear, and the Brake Wheel are fairly obvious, but it is the water gauges Steam Regulator and various spigots that are less easy to identify. Could someone please confirm if it was driven right or left hand - I am thinking left hand because that is the side of the Brake Wheel and it was constantly coupling and uncoupling on inclines? I would be grateful if anyone in the group can provide information. Noel
Aeromole
Hi Noel. I've just joined this forum, hence the late reply. There is a gentleman by the name of Steve Duckworth who has written about the Dazzlers in the Somerset & Dorset Railway Journal, published by the S&DJR society. This includes some detail about cab fittings. I'm not sure if this forum supports PMs, but if so can you send me a message and I'll send you more details when I'm home again. Best regards.
