lymer
Hi I am part of a small group within Barnsley Model Railway Club who are involved in the construction and running of this layout, I thought I'd share with people as our aim is to get it onto the exhibition circuit and let people see what we have achieved. Anyway a little about the layout itself it is a OO gauge layout and has been created entirely from our imagination, It was conceived and started building in 2009 as a continuous run layout and is DCC controlled. The initial outline was for members to be able to run their DCC stock irrespective of the era they modelled at home, the layout itself when exhibited is leaning towards the period of change from steam to diesel traction. The layout utilizes the Lenz 100 DCC system for control and the points are all electronically operated by push to make switches on two control panels which have been scratch built by two of the members and also includes illuminated route direction indicator l.e.d.’s. The layout is 20’4” long by 9’ wide and consists of 10 layout boards. It can be easily erected to be running in 1-2 hours and needs a minimum of 4 operators to function correctly and give adequate cover for other duties. The running of the layout is based on normal operations practices for passenger, coal and freight stock on the main line as well as having a mineral line running around the outer edge of the layout with exchange sidings at the end, this is to give the assumption of a collier just of scene. Also of interest on the layout is that the road way along the back utilizes self-propelled vehicles which travelling throughout the scenic area. Anyway below are a couple of pictures and a track plan so lets have your thoughts and ideas. Chris
