rt1995
Hi all Not been on here for a good 4 or 5 years, and haven't really done anything relating to modelling or railways at all. So this is my latest draft of a plan for my bedroom Each square is 1 square foot, so will be built from an 8x2, a 1x4 and a 5x1 section. The 5x1 fiddle yard will be detachable to make a bit more space when I'm not using it. Planning to use 9mm plywood with a grid bracing pattern underneath, topped in cork tiles. My main query is how realistic/prototypical is the design itself? It is meant to be early 1960s BR Western region, with the station being at the end of a short 'spur' from the main line. The stabling point would be a recent construction designed as an overflow facility for a larger depot hence being located here. My other question is whether I could get away with using steam locomotives to haul the oil tankers to the yard? Would they have been banned as a fire risk etc? Asking as I have decided to do this era so I can still have some steam traction Many Thanks rt1995
