Second hand plywood

No particular reason why there should be any issues. A club that I was involved with built a large layout from secondhand plywood without any problems. The plywood in question had previously been subjected to moisture/steam (I won't go into details!).

Hi Phil.

There shouldn't be, depending on how holey it is..... I would also check for flatness and check it hasn't delaminated.

Erm depends what its first use was and how old it might be..... if it has been damp or used as shuttering then check it lies flat where you are building your layout after a week aclimatising. If it is contaminated with oil or other noxious substances forget it. If it has been in a house for a while check for woodworm or delamination, other than that it sounds an ok plan.
