Ive595
I will bite the bullitt and post some photo's of my spare room layout. I have to admit now that this layout is now 90% complete, so from tonight until you see some finished photos will only be a couple of weeks. The brief for the layout was, somewhere indoors to run trains during the week, also be simple enough for my boy to run Thomas and he's various friend's around without worrying about damage, and to be able to 'run in' locomotives and rolling stock after alteration and DCC fitting. The room is only 9ft 6inch by 8ft 6inch, however it was big enough for my needs, another layout is being built to satisfy some other needs however that is for another thread. I wanted a double track roundy roundy, with sidings and a fiddle yard for a change of stock, also a removable section so I can get in and out without crawling on the floor. Now if the photos have come out ok, you are looking from right to left around the room, the gap in which I'm standing is the fiddle yard board, which is the removable section. The boards are held on wall brackets bought from Ikea, which I doubted would be enough but have turned out fine, obviously some of the boards are only a foot wide. Ok let's see if this posts and photos attach. Ivan Oh well that did not work, I will have another go tomorrow.

Ive595
Hopefully a few more photos, as you would have guessed not sussed out the upload procedure yet. Things move on quick at first when your full of enthusiasm. No apologise for the non original station building, I did not want to think about design or placement, I just wanted something that looked good and fitted the roughly north easterly location my rolling stock suggested. A small loco shed and area was needed so a corner was chosen, or was it a case of, what shall i put in that corner?
Ive595
Its strange how much you miss when looking at a layout, I started taking pictures as a document, but soon found it useful to seewhat was needed next andwhat had been missed. The Tunnel area coming along. I did not want another tunnel at the other end, so built the back scene then sat back and looked......
Ive595
So what did i do? A bridge.... Sorry could not think of anything more imaginative. Just to digress a little, I have seen so many wonderful layouts at shows that have the fiddle yard entered via a hole in the backscene, through buldings, sky, trees! come on put in a scenic break! Saw a simple but effective idea at the Chatham show the other week, they had grown a small forest around the hole, the train just dissapeared into the trees. Think I have a picture somewhere I will have a look. my favourite loco this week! Runs lovely and does not short out anywhere. Another whats needed next picture. The Tunnel area gets some grass and trees

Ive595
The reason I returned to this hobby, too busy with Bill to look at he's Dad. Checking track clearance....Honest! I must find some time to weather those wagons!
Ive595
Not been a very productive week on either layout this week, the weather has not helped, got a few trees made before the heavens opened. Then with the ground still wet I got some of them planted. Must get the platforms finished and station area fenced and planted up. Running some more trains for the boy! Got the weekend ahead hopefully working on the helix for Kirkby in Ashfield. More updates on both layouts soon ( I hope ). Ivan
