Plans for the Summer Steam Gala at the Foxfield Railway are on the final countdown to the 19th and 20th July. The visiting loco 'Vulcan' has arrived, the Beyer Peacock 1827 has returned following overhaul and the rest of the home fleet are having their final preparation.

The format is similar to previous years with passenger services working between Caverswall Road Station and Dilhorne Park and the demonstration coal trains between Dilhorne Park and Foxfield Colliery on the infamous Foxfield bank which features nearly three quarters of a mile at an average gradient of 1 in 25.

The first passenger departure from Caverswall Road will be at 10am and the final one at 4pm. There will be a variety of single locos, double heading and banked trains on Foxfield Bank and the last train from the colliery will be made up to 15 wagons (the usual load is a maximum of 6) and feature double heading and banking.

for those who do not wish to walk from Dilhorne Park to the Colliery there will be a free bus service from Caverswall Road station to Dilhorne and the colliery site, and the bus will also be connecting with trains at Blythe Bridge station for those who wish to come via public transport.

Limited camping is also available if you want to stay and sample the wide selection of real ales available in the On Legged Shunter station bar.
