andyman7
I wonder if anyone can help identify the coach pictured below, which I picked up at the Bluebell Railway collectors fair. Body has the warping typical of cellulose acetate mouldings; the underframe trussing/battery box is pressed tin, whilst the bogies are diecast. It is fitted with hook and single chain link couplings, and is really rather nice for the vintage. All suggestions/answers welcome!
Il Grifone
I think this must be one of the Scalecraft mouldings from the early fifties. I don't know much about them, apart from ordering two from ERG second hand lists but too late... EDIT It would appear that memory failed me (not unknown and it was well over fifty years ago) concerning the name - Coachcraft rather than Scalecraft. It seemed silly to leave it behind for the sake of £2!

5050
Could it be one of these? It looks very similar. From January 1951 Model Railway News. Edited August 21, 2014 by 5050
andyman7
Sorry not to check in earlier - but thanks, I think you're bang on, that looks exactly what I've got! Edited September 2, 2014 by andyman7
darkwolf
Years ago I bought a Trackmaster clockwork trainset, and I seem to remember the auction lot had a coach like that thrown in, maybe with a box. I'll see if I can find it.
andyman7
I've just managed to pick up a second one of these Coachcraft models. At this rate I should have a rake in about 20 years
