RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted August 21, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 21, 2014 This has just been posted on another group. Apologies if there is already a topic on here but I can't find it: _______________________________________ I thought some of you may be interested in a FREE one-off event, to be called "Steam Extravaganza", that will be happening at the old Railwaylands area between Kings Cross and St Pancras stations on 11th & 12th October. You will probably know that two fabulous layouts, The Gresley Beat and Copenhagen Fields, are both models of this area as it was in steam days.I am very pleased to say that BOTH these layouts will be present and operated during the event, the first time that they have been shown on the very site they are depicting, only a couple of hundred yards from the site of the famous Top Shed.It will also be a great opportunity to see how well the old railway buildings are being renovated and brought back into great use including the massive coal drops and The Granary Building. The layouts will be shown in The Crossing area reached by walking through The Granary Building, just 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. There is minimal parking so travel by train is recommended. Book in advance for cheap tickets. This free event is one in a series of free events organised by the developers to attract visitors into this new redeveloped area of London.
