RMweb Premium Mooresby Posted August 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 23, 2014 I hope someone can help me please. I want to get to the wheels of my new Heljan 33 "Sea King" to paint them and also remove the NEM pocket at one end but i'm struggling. I've removed the buffer beam but i'm nervous about forcing the bogies to remove them and damaging the model. Any help would be greatly appreciated……. 34theletterbetweenB&D
Based on the 26 and 27 which share the same chassis design in general terms (Heljan are consistent in constructional style). No need to remove the bogies. The wheels are retained by a flat plate on the bottom of the bogie which clips on to the bogie gear tower by four flat clips, mostly concealed behind the wheels. Ease out gently to release. Never tried releasing the NEM pocket, but that's a clip in also.

It'd probably be easier to remove the bogie sideframes, which are usually a pressure fit with 2 spigots. That then opens them up completely so you can paint them easily. dasatcopthorne
Both the above posts are correct. Just remember that the wheels are likely to have a coating of grease, so clean them well. Dave
RMweb Premium Mooresby Posted August 24, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks guys - i suspected that the side frames just pulled off, but didn't have the confidence to follow my suspicions! Job successfully completed!
