boc
Hi, I've just purchased a SPROG 3 and didn't buy a power supply because I read in the user manual that the DC input voltage max was 20V and had an old laptop power supply of 18.5V/2.7A. Having unwrapped the SPROG 3, the attached paperwork shows 18v as the upper limit of the input range. In terms of operation - I intend to use the SPROG to programme my single loco (assuming I get the decoder install correct) and operate it on a small section of test track. Would using the laptop power supply cause any problems? I'd hate to have to wait to get another power supply, but would rather that than frazzling anything. Many thanks Chris
Crosland
The User Guide is correct, but 18.5V is quite high for the track voltage. My personal preference would be 12 - 15V. Andrew
boc
Andrew, Thanks very much. I did try to respond on the sprog dcc group but will try again later. I'll wait for a lower powered adapter. Chris
