rockershovel
Jax have played 10 games in London since 2013. I went to the first one (49ers) and basically saw an expansion franchise get pasted. Next one (Dallas) was much the same. I believe they signed a contract to play 10 games in UK. The owner also owns Fulham so I suppose there is a connection of sorts. The German following is very big, paying World Cup money for tickets (which is why I'm not going to see Bills next week, full of Germans for some reason). Spread betting isn't big in UK. I really don't know the extent to which people bet on NFL in UK but I wouldn't think its big numbers. Yesterday's game wasn't a particularly competitive game. Atlanta scored a good Touchdown and had another one defended; they never looked like winning and rightly or wrongly, UK supporters tend to expect last-play drama from American football. Nor did it have the general zip and pace seen the past couple of years (including a tactical finish by Giants involving a touchback)
Invicta Informant
I think the Jacksonville Jaguars would be, if any, the next team in the NFL to relocate. They have quite a small fanbase and fans in the state of Florida tend to support the other teams in the state (Miami or Tampa Bay), or said fans actually hail from another state and support what was their local team. If the Jags were to go anywhere else, I reckon it could be Orlando, St. Louis (which was home to the Rams), or even Memphis (which was the temporary 'home' for the Oilers before they became the Titans). Those three cities had at one point a team in either the WFL, USFL, XFL, CFL (yes, the Canadian Football League expanded into the US in the mid-1990s) and/or AAF, and had decent support for their teams before the leagues went belly-up or contracted. Edited October 4, 2023 by Invicta Informant Forgot to the mention the USFL

By one measure Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida by population - larger than Miami or Tampa Bay, But when you consider metro areas the order is: 1. Miami-Dade County (Ft. Lauderdale-West Palm Beach) 2. Tampa-St. Pete-Clearwater 4. Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford 5. Jacksonville So it's not so surprising. People say Portland is "too small" for an NFL franchise. Combined with Vancouver, with about 2.5m people the metro area is substantially larger than the Jacksonville metro area (1.7m), Ranked by metro-area populations, Portland is #25 and Jacksonville is #38. Only Orlando and San Antonio (and St. Louis and San Diego*) are larger metro areas than Portland without an NFL team. It would have made much more sense to have the third Florida NFL franchise in Orlando as an additional entertainment option - not unlike moving the Raiders to Las Vegas. * Who both had one Edited October 3, 2023 by Ozexpatriate

rockershovel
I thought Sundays game at Tottenham was generally a much better game (I watched it on tv) Better standard of play and particularly, special teams. Both sides clearly felt thst simply handing their opponents a down at the 25 yard line wasn't good enough, so there were attempts to kick or punt the ball so it went dead around the 10 yard line, and to retrieve and return it. Both sides were attempting, sometimes successfully to tackle the runner from the side. There was also a (failed) onside kick from Buffalo. Much more passing, too which English supporters like to see. RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted October 9, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 9, 2023 Yeah, the Falcons game at Wembley was a disappointment, especially as a Falcons fan. Fortunately there were signs of better ability in Sunday's game against the Texans.

Ozexpatriate
Week 10 saw no fewer than 6 walk-off field goals - that's almost half the 14 games played, decided as time expired. Five more games had 'one score' differentials. There were plenty of stories yesterday (like this one) how five walk-off field goals was a record. After Monday Night it is now six through all of week 10. The score was 15-15 almost 10 minutes into the fourth quarter on Monday night. It ended as 24-22. There was plenty of kicking drama throughout.
