Sunday  October 12th sees Amberley Museum’s Autumn Industrial Trains event, primarily aimed at the enthusiast.

Much of the collection will be out and about with the opportunity to get close up and personal with some very rare locos and we expect to have a visiting diesel loco from Bredgar, MotorRail 7037 of 1936, which worked until recently at William Sinclair’s peat works at Bolton Fell in Cumbria

On the standard gauge demonstration line we should have the Simplex 4wDM loco ‘Burt’ in action at half-past each hour (except over lunchtime!)

A conducted ‘Behind-the-Scenes’ tour will take place at 2pm (meet in the triangle area, takes about one hour) and once again we will be able to offer visitors (over 18’s of age) hands-on experience of a true industrial railway.

Our ‘Driver-for-a-Fiver’ scheme will allow two trips at the controls of an internal combustion loco along a stretch of line not normally accessible, or seen. Under the accompaniment and guidance of an experienced driver, there will also be the opportunity for photographs to be taken, and we hope that this will raise much-needed funds to continue our work in restoring and maintaining the collection. As always, this is subject to availability of locos and volunteers (and weather!)  but we hope to have two locos available for this. Start point is the concrete apron at Brockham Station. Slots will be bookable on the day.

We look forward to meeting old and new friends.
