Matt Aerosol Varnish - New Viable Alternative

You can't fault Testors as a product (before someone moans....)  but there is no supplier near me and the cheapest online seller wants £5 to ship 2 cans.  That makes it quite pricey.

 

Humbrol rattle can varnish reacts with brush on paints.  Badly!

 

So I have looked for an alternative and found one, and tested it.

 

Halfords (other large chainstore car and pushbike shops are available / usual disclaimer etc etc etc etc) now do a spray matt varnish.  It's not with the car paints, but with the specialist paint aersols like BBQ paints and toolbox paints.

 

I tried it out on my renumbered and detailed Dukedog last night and the results were very pleasing.  There is no "whitening" or bloom to it, it went on in a thin coat which is hard to see, and it hasn't reacted to any of the paints (brush on Humbrol, and factory paints).

 

Very pleased.

 

This now means that you can use gloss car paints and dull them back down.
