RMweb Premium 45156 Posted October 21, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 21, 2014 For those who don't know, Raf Ravenscroft was the sax player on the late Gerry Rafferty's inconic "Baker Street". (Not Bob Holness) His passing was announced today at the age of 60, though it appears that he died a couple of days ago of a suspected heart attack. Another fine musician gone..... He said once in interview that his fee for the sax break (which was apparently just composed on the day) was £25 and Gerry Rafferty paid him by cheque which was not paid by the bank and was framed up and hanging on his wall. However, he also said that after Baker Streeet, his fee for a session went up from the Union rate of £27.50 to £5,000. RIP Raf.
