metmangraham
Surprised by this model's prominence in Ediburgh's Museum of Childhood last week. OK, many living in Scotland will already know of it, but good to think the model is considered important enough for inclusion!.
The_Laird
Nice example, but probably more appropriate in a Museum of Dead Children. Early examples of this Hornby model operated to a frighteningly high voltage. www.hrcaa.org.au/files/Metro%2014%20small.pdf There was also a clockwork version. GoingUnderground
There were several different versions of the Hornby O Gauge MetroVic Bo-Bo, 120V, 6V DC and 20V DC, plus a clockwork versions. Frank Hornby simply copied the Maerklin 120V system at first until safety concerns caused the change to 6V DC and then 20V DC versions.
