daveymills
nice summary of present day status Not sure why they say is is "liitle known" http://www.theguardian.com/cities/2014/sep/26/-sp-petite-ceinture-paris-entrepreneurs-environmentalists-abandoned-railway i am amazed how the track and trackbed is in relatively good condition. You would expect 2m tall undergrowth by now, surely ?
Focalplane
There are two Paris's, one we basically assume to be all of Paris, the other one that we don't want to know about. Much of the petite ceinture covers the latter subdivisions, which is why there is such a diverse opinion about its future. In most cities an inner belt would be prime for refurbishment as a railway but this isn't likely to happen. But I would guess the entire circuit will linger on for a while longer!
