The Bigbee Line
I've just noticed some holes under the ends of every third sleeper on Peco code 75. Are these guides for fitting the insulators. If they are, I've not seen it advertised anywhere. Whatever. Well done Peco.
Guest
I've never noticed that either! And I've recently drilled 100 holes in Code 75 by eye... typical!
RMweb Premium Colin Posted November 16, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2014 I don't think I would use all those holes for insulators; I just took a look at one of my SR Electric albums and the average "pot" spacing appears to be every 5th sleeper (closer at junctions, rail breaks etc). leopardml2341
Does this help? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/russelliott/3rd-4th.html#Spacing-of-insulators-on-plain-track Rgds
Guest
I've always gone by the "4th sleeper/plain track, 3rd sleeper/exceptions" rule of thumb which seems to be borne out by Russ Elliot's excellent resource (linked above).
RMweb Premium Colin Posted November 16, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2014 Quite right - have to admit I miscounted! Every 4th sleeper is what I should have typed.....
The Bigbee Line
If the holes are in the right position I would use them and shuffle the sleepers. i space them out an bit anyway. Will try it next week.
