40044
OAA - not sure but can't recall seeing any loaded with steel. Loading steel in vehicles with wooden doors was not normally permitted. OBA - as above OCA - baled scrap, rod in coil SPA - baled scrap, rod in coil, strip coil VAA - coiled tinplate VDA - unlikely due to door configuration
Mike Storey
SPA - single steel slabs were also conveyed on these.

hmrspaul
OBA were originally considered to be the replacement for Tubes, and had turnover bolsters in the floor. Paul
Fat Controller
OBA were originally considered to be the replacement for Tubes, and had turnover bolsters in the floor. Paul The prototype wagon, converted from an OAA, with built-up ends and turnover bolsters, actually carried a TOPS code starting with S (was it SDA?), the code for 4-wheel steel-carrying wagons.
