New book: 'Under the Semaphores at Shrewsbury 1987-1994'

This title provides a snapshot of Shrewsbury's railways - especially their signalling - over 20 years ago during the era of change that preceded British Rail privatisation and was very positively reviewed by The Railway Magazine recently.

Its chapters detail the operations of all six of Shrewsbury's signalboxes open at the time (including the massive Severn Bridge Junction) - two of which have since closed - set against a backdrop of many first generation diesels, DMUs and locomotive-hauled passenger trains as they were beginning to be superseded by newer traction. Includes track plans and photographs of re-signalling work in progress.

92 pages (8 x 10 in.), 165 images (>80% colour) with detailed photograph captions and diagrams throughout. Two digital download and three print formats available, starting from £11.99. Printed books are bound on demand and are not available in bookshops.
