jasond
I model 'N American in O-scale' - insert your special interest (SI) here. RMweb has good threads and blogs that are relevant, sometimes for obscure reasons, to my SI. Good blogs can give lots of good ideas the newest at the top of the pile, but mainly from the man in charge. Good threads with a high page count shown on the forum list contain good stuff from good people, but aimed at one topic and what page was it? I'd like to be part of a 'Throg' that allowed contributions to the SI from as many as wanted it with new stuff shown first for regular readers. A variety of topics could be covered in one Throg under the SI heading and Sensible Headings could guide readers back in time, eg: Events, Sales and Wants, Manufacturers News, Club News, etc. Before too many cries of "Why don't you just cut another slice of Christmas Cake and watch the Two Ronnies?", Yahoogroups works a bit like this, but you can't include the odd picture in the post, the navigation is ancient and all the other topics you'ld like to nose around are behind walls until you join their group. Microsoft Mail and many other email systems would let me sort mail into newest/oldest first, I think newest first makes it so easy to follow. RMweb is great community toolset, I just want MORE. And I won't watch the 2Rs, tonight I need to find out if the MTH ES44 with Protosound 3 works with my NCE ... blah, blah. Happy New Modelling Year all. Steve-e
There is this area for Special Interests http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/31-special-interests/ yours seems to fall into http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/185-narrow-gauge-modelling-prototype/ Is that the type of thing your looking at or are you wanting to drill it down to specific area withing Special Interests for 'N American in O-scale' ? If you are then send a PM to Andy Y and see if he can assist. Allan Downes is making a cracking Trestle Bridge here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/93615-on3-mining-layout-on-a-door/ which you may be interested in. Thats in the Narrow Gauge section. Cheers Steve
jasond
Thanks for the replies. There are always interesting threads appearing in Modelling Zone/Continental Overseas/USA and Can that would be useful to be 'near' so I think I need a Subforum rather than a Special Interest Group for American O-scale. And another heading in the Classified listing would be useful, so my next step is to ask Andy. My interest in American O has always been focussed (D&H 1974-1983 ... OK, -ish), but I know others who enjoy American in other scales or 0-gauge British, etc so doing this on RMWeb is more sensible than starting another site.
