clecklewyke
Halifax North Bridge is a fantastic subject - classic West Riding topography and architecture. Bill Brandt took loads of wonderful photographs of this area and it was the inspiration for Clecklewyke and at least two other layouts. However, I changed the company to LNWR and replaced the tunnel at the North end with a viaduct. I hope you are making progress, West Riding! Ian I was out this weekend with Black Country blues at the Halifax show. The show is held in a leisure centre that along with sainsburys occupy the goods yard. Looking at the map I parked on the running lines. We got to the show on Sunday morning at 9.00am to find a car boot sales in full swing mainly under the massive arch of the bridge. Someone was heading home with a large illuminated reindeer.. Story of my life always too late. Andy
West_riding
Sadly a combination of doing up the house, new baby and RNR training has put this onto the back burner, but hopefully the winter will give me chance to make a start, even if only on a few buildings to motivate me to crack on! L&Y
I was exploring Dean clough recently. I wonder if there was a wagon lift to take the coal down into the mills as theres a massive difference in levels from the sidings that went under the running lines before the tunnel. Either that or it must have been an evil gradient. There are also some of the tightest radius curves still embedded in the road near the weigh bridge that I have ever seen. Hope you can get to some modelling soon.
