Flyingscotsmanfan
Having previously bought and fitted a load of Romford screw link couplings, I was in need of some more so duly ordered some but when they arrived, unlike previous stock which were already blackened, only the hooks were blackened not the actual screw link, is this how they will be sold from now on? I will continue to use them but need to know what they are made from so I can buy the right blackening solution as I don't want to clog them up with paint. Can anybody tell me what they are made from so I can order the correct stuff please? Many thanks
Spitfire2865
No info on material, or even product, but I fit all my stock with Smiths 3 links and each packet seems to be different, sometimes everything is blackened, sometimes just the hooks are, sometimes even the springs are. So it may just be your packet of them.
Merfyn Jones
The Romford screw couplings seem to no longer be blackened, probably to save money. Made of brass they can be dipped in Carr's Metal Black for Brass. Available from all good model shops or at a lot of exhibitions. It works for me. Merf.
