jeffjgale
Dear Sir, I have purchased a Dapol N Scale Class 45XX BR Black Eary Crest #4528 DA2S014002, Bar code 5 016927 013455. I am VERY happywith this splendid loco, My question is this. I was told by the dealer that this loco is DCC ready, Is this so. I do not wish to open it up [ and maybeloose my warranty ] and find that it is not. Also may I ask what decoder you would suggest for it.Sorry to be a nuisance, but being a pensioner this is a big worry for me.Thanking you in advance, Jeffery
RAF96
If you look up this model (2S-014-002N Gauge) on Dapol's website and read the only question about it - it says " "...It can be DCC'd but it is not fitted with a socket as our more recent models are as this is being produced to the same spec as when produced a few years ago...". There are 3 questions for the Green version - one answer confirms it is not fitted with a socket for a simple plug in conversion. So it would seem your supplier is telly porkies about it being DCC ready. It is a very nice model though.
jeffjgale
Thank you RAFHAAA96, Looks like I'll have to resell it, not game to muck it up. Jeff.
Adrian Wintle
Thank you RAFHAAA96, Looks like I'll have to resell it, not game to muck it up. Jeff. It is quite simple to hardwire a DCC decoder in these. A small decoder fits in the coal bunker. Adrian
TomJ
I spoke to Digitrains about mine - they said they could easily hardwire a decoder for me at quite a reasonably price.
