rodshaw
I'm about to fit my first DCC decoder. It's into a Bachmann GP40 and it looks pretty straightforward because the existing wiring is all laid out nicely on a strip of PCB. My question is about the lights - they're not much good and I intend eventually to replace them with LEDs powered from the decoder, but in the meantime is it ok to leave them wired up to pick up power from what will then be an AC track circuit? Or should I disconnect them for now?
Nigelcliffe
If bulbs, then depends on the bulb fitted. You might overload them on the DCC track voltage if they are rated close to 12v. I'd either wire to decoder or disconnect.
