Multiple identity account
Hey guys,I've been on the look out for a DCC sound chip has at least has the chugging, notch-up sounds that are similar to the Indian Railways' YDM-4 Meter Gauge Co-Co Diesel Locomotive.Have a listen to the sounds in the video links below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBA01upB5KgWould a Class 31 or a Class 37 sound similar in this case? Or any of you more experienced guys know of a loco that sounds similar? Hopefully I can source a chip and just have the horns changed by a DCC specialist.Cheers!JBMPS: If you know of any DCC specialist who can change the horn then let me know. Adrian Wintle
I'd be looking at an Alco 244 or 251 sound package since they are, I believe, Alco powered. If you click on the specific Alco projects here, they have playable clips. http://www.soundtraxx.com/dsd/tsunami/1000.php Edit. A 244 sounds close, although I don't know whether any of the horns in the Soundtraxx project would sound like that. The 251 V12 may even be closer, as that is likely what is in YDM-4As and probably YDM-4s. Edit2: You can play the specific prime movers and horns here http://www.soundtraxx.com/dsd/tsunami/tsunamisound.php There is a 251V12 sound project available for LokSound decoders too. Adrian Wintle
Thank you Adrian. I had no idea Soundtraxx existed ESU also has a 251V12 sound project if a LokSound would be better for you. I linked to Soundtraxx because I knew they had the sound clips. Adrian
Multiple identity account
I had a listen in to the Soundtraxx files. Whilst typically ALCo, I still feel they sound different from the YDM-4 (which are apparently 6-cylinder). I am finding the YDM-4 sounds have an uncanny resemblence to the Class 31 and Class 37.Stumped!
Adrian Wintle
Maybe the Alco 539T? It has a fairly distinctive turbo whistle, though. LokSound has that http://www.esu.eu/en/downloads/sounds/generation-4/loksound-v40-usa/ Soundtraxx has a clip for a non-turbo 539 http://www.soundtraxx.com/dsd/tsunami/playsound.php?s=alco539nt It is available on the Micro-Tsunami (TSU-750). Note that you can't change the sound projects on Tsunamis, but there are a lot of sound tuning parameters. Adrian

RMweb Gold pheaton Posted April 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2015 lot of info there http://www.irfca.org/faq/faq-loco-diesel-mg.html adrian is right they are alco based..
Multiple identity account
Thanks Pheaton,But that doesn't really answer my point about a suitable DCC chip. That link only goes to the YDM-4 section on IRFCA. Both a website and loco that I am more than familiar with. I am out for a DCC sound chip that sounds similar. The sounds for the same prime mover sound very different on the DCC sound chips that the real YDM-4Cheers!JBM
