estarriol
Does it exist, is there anything out there?
hartleymartin
I seriously doubt it. Nearly everything is 1:43 scale. The only 1:48 stuff I've found and sometimes used is from 1:48 scale military modelling. At the moment I'm working on four 1:48 scale plastic kits for cars to go into the background. HSB
I believe a very small number of narrow gauge layouts have been built to this scale. I doubt there's been anything in standard gauge.

APOLLO
American O gauge is 1:48 scale, though runs on "standard" (i.e. Peco) track. This usefully explains - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_scale Brit15
railwayrod
We have a number of scales running on 32mm track gauge. In Britain the most popular is 1:43.5 to represent standard gauge or 16mm to the foot to represent 2 foot narrow gauge. On the Continent the scale varies between 1:43.5 to the more accurate 1:45 (which give a very accurate scale/gauge ratio). However in the USA the dominant scale is 1:48 or 1/4inch to the foot meaning that the 32mm track gauge represents 5 feet (wider than standard gauge). I do not know anyone who models British standard gauge to 1:48 scale. Hope this is useful to you. Rod
