jonny777
I think it is ironic that the thread marking the anniversary of VE Day, and the celebration of regaining individual freedom in Europe, was locked (for whatever reason). Therefore I wish to use this thread to remember the 56 people who went to watch football 30 years ago today and never came home. The old folk always used to tell me that the best memorial anyone can have, is that they are never forgotten. Remembering someone may take many different forms, almost as many as the people doing the remembering, and just because certain forms are not to our liking, they should not bar us from allowing them the freedom to express their views. Here is one such memory of the event. http://bradfordcityfire.co.uk/?p=659 There are many more on the site.

Danemouth
The film of the fire is still used for fire warden training. When I became i fire warden ten years ago the first thing we did on the training course was to view that film - the instructor was keen to point out the speed at which the fire spread. May these poor people Rest in Peace. Dave
Ozexpatriate
In the spirit of a similar commemoration, the RMS Lusitania was sunk 100 years ago last Thursday causing the deaths of 1,198 passengers and crew.
