Hi all

 

Now that A4 60009 is off to Jason's workshop to be 're boilered' and a light safety inspection, thought to powering her when she comes back has gone on a pace. Two coal wagons have been purchased ( thanks for posters who helped) and filled with coal. (the real stuff of course....) They have now arrived at Glasburgh and will be ready to fill her up when she returns in a few weeks.

 

Actually, it is the first time I have bought and filled a wagon for....well.....longer than I care to remember. Sure my brother will let out the secret. If I recall I 'acquired' some of his somewhat sponge like fake coal!

A new shed will be ordered or built. I think I will have to build this myself as funds are limited and I want it to look similar to the shed she sat in at Markinch for years. Wooden sides etc.

 

Still, I think the wagons look not bad after a bit of weathering etc. At least the coal looks convincing!

I am looking forward to seeing 60009 when she returns as well. Lights,fire box glow, seuthe smoke generator and DCC Sound fitted.......

Then onto my bench for re numbering to 60009 and Union of South Africa nameplates which are waiting patiently. Will be a few weeks as Jason is very busy at moment but will be very much worth the wait.

This looks good. Am I correct in thinking the walls are the ones from International Models?

 

Looking forward to seeing the shed, the wooden-sided ones were always my favourites.

Hi Mikkel

 

Yes they are the ones from International models. I used them on my old layout too. Easy to use and trim with hot blade and available in grey as well. Only downside is if your layout is portable they need to be protected when moving as they can be damaged fairly easily. Perfect for a home based layout. They can also be used on reasonable curves very easily. Come well packaged and are good value with straights and left and right slopes and a plain brick sheet too.
