5Bel
Hi All, When I delivered the Terrier I built for a friend he asked me to have a look at his RJH Mk2. I had been started by someone else and came to me in painted condition but with no window frames or underfloor detail fitted. First thing I did was to strip the paint. I then found out that all the white metal parts were secured with contact adhesive of some sort. Here are some pics of the work so far. Fresh from the paint stripping. I removed the ends as I wasn't happy with the roof profile. Coach body minus ends and windowframes. Ends refitted and start made on fitting windowframes. The kit comes with some lovely etched windowframes. A bit of filing was needed to get them to fit into the recesses on the coach sides, but overall it has been quite an enjoyable refurb so far. Post more pics soon. Cheers for now, Ian.

5Bel
Hi All, Here a a couple more pics of the Mk2. It's had it's first round of filler and I still need to put the tank on the roof, but at least it is starting to look the part. The white mark on the roof is where there was a massive dent! A weeks work maybe and it should be in primer. Cheers for now, Ian.
5Bel
Hi All, Here are a few more pics of the Mk2. It's had its first coat of primer and quite a lot of filler!! I need to fit the brake blocks to the bogies, then the underframe will be ready for painting. I haven't got many more bits to put on as there weren't many bits in the box when I got the kit. It's starting to look the part, hopefully get the blue/grey on soon. Cheers for now, Ian.
Phill Dyson (onslaught832)
Nice work Ian, excuse my ignorence but what is the difference between a MK2a & a MK2c ? Cheers Phill
5Bel
Hi Phill, Thanks for the comment. To be honest I don't know the diference between a 2a and a 2c, I think it has something to do with ventilation. I know the roof ventilators are of a different pattern and theres a grille above one of the toilet windows. I am sure someone on the forum will be able to tell you the difference though! ClikC
Sorry to butt in. Mk2a's had center doors which were omitted from Mk2b's onwards, the Mk2c's had provision for air conditioning systems, but were never fitted with them.
Pugsley
2 B's onwards were slightly longer than the original 2's and 2a's, they also featured wrap-around doors, in addition to the points made above.

5Bel
Hi All, Made a little progress this week. Bogies and underframe have been painted and rail grey has been applied to the sides. Hopefully get the blue on this week. Has anyone any ideas of what colour the doors in the corridor connection should be? Cheers for now, Ian

Pugsley
Has anyone any ideas of what colour the doors in the corridor connection should be? I'm pretty sure that they were orangey red on the 2b's and 2c's. HTH
BernardTPM
Yes, they were. Incidentally there were two types of Mk.2c, with different pattern roof vents and toilet windows. Fortunately the kit has a correct combination, which covers nos. 5562-5615.
5Bel
Hi All, Thanks for the info fellas. I knew there were different versions of Mk2's, but didn't realise they were such a minefield!! That's were this forum is brilliant. If you don't know something, someone on here will have the answer. Hopefully I will start to get the blue on later today. Cheers for now, Ian
5Bel
Hi All, I have put the blue/grey on and sprayed the roof. As it stands it doesn't look too bad. Still to put the white dividing line on and paint the corridor connectors. Here are some pics of progress so far. I will take some more pics once the painting is completed, hopefully the lighting conditions will be better! Cheers for now, Ian
lancer1027
Nice one Ian, it looks great. Its amazing how paint transforms a model. Look forward to the next update Rob
5Bel
Hi All, The Mk2 is now complete with a big thankyou to those who gave me info regarding numbers and corridor connectors. It looks OK, the transfers make a big difference. Hopefully it should be winging it's way to it's new owner in North Wales in the next couple of weeks. Here are some pics. Hope you like it. I don't know what my next 7mm project will be. I have a CRT Bulleid coach or a Rebuilt WC/BB amongst other things. The Mk2's new owner has hinted that he has a RJH TEA tanker that needs building. So there is a good chance it will be that. Once again thanks to those who supplied info on the Mk2. Cheers for now, Ian
lancer1027
Hi Ian, Exellent work. You have done an exellent job. Rob
Softvark
That looks really good! How did you do the white dividing line? I'm just starting on a JLTRT mk1 so I'm looking for the best techniques. Cheers Julian
5Bel
Hi All, Thanks for the kind comments. Julian, the white line was done with a bow pen from a drawing set that I have had for years. It is quite easy to use with practice. The lines look better in the flesh than they do in the photos. Good luck with the Mk1. Cheers for now, Ian
pwr
I have a couple of these in the kit pile and you have given me the confidence that they will build up into a good kit. Your model does not appear to have any interior - is that because they are not in the kit or was it missing? regards Paul R
5Bel
Hi Paul, Thanks for the kind words. There is no interior because there was not one with the kit when I got it. That's not to say there wasn't one provided by RJH when the kit was new!! I also haven't got any info on Mk2 stock other than a few exterior shots, so I would only be guessing at the interior layout. There were no instructions with the kit, so the interior layout may be in there somewhere. The kits build up nicely and are well thought out. Hope this helps. Cheers for now, Ian
IC126
A nice looking vehicle. It's probably a sign that I'm getting old that I think that a Mk 2 in blue & grey looks very modern.
