Warley Show 2013 - Ride Share

Hello all, with the go ahead from 'da management' I wanted to start a thread for possible ride-share to the Warley Show. Not only doing our but for the environment, we can save a few bob on train tickets. Yes I know if you book 3 months in advance you can get it for threpence ha'penny tha knows but not every one is in that position to be able to know that far in advance or may not be able to afford a ticket. Think of this as my contribution to the 'big society' as we are all in it together, or not as the case may be.... :)

So If you would like to offer a seat(s) in car, bus, charabang, jet boat, helicopter, private jet bicycle or any other mode of transport you can list it/them here or if you are looking for a lift and hope someone in your area may be going you may be lucky. Probably best to liaise with all involved via PM once a contact has been made.

Obviously this is all done under ones own steam and is not connected in away to Andy Y or RMweb, just friendly modellers helping each other out..

Ok so over to you.

Regards

Tom

As part of Tom's initiative I thought I'd pitch in with something to help those who don't like the NEC's parking charge (£10 last year).

Firstly, there are also 2225 spaces at Birmingham International station car park which charges £5 all day off-peak, it's then a 10 minute walk to the hall and a shorter walk than to the car-parks if you didn't take the car-park shuttle bus.

Several times I have parked at nearby stations, Marston Green just to the north of the NEC and Hampton-in-Arden just to the south.

Marston Green - http://www.londonmidland.com/mobile/stations/MGN/

Hampton-in-Arden - http://www.londonmidland.com/mobile/stations/HIA/

Both have small free car parks and an Adult Return for the day is £2.00.

The timetables are shown below.

Please remember the Warley club does not dictate nor benefit from the parking charges; it's the responsibility of and goes straight to the NEC.

The other benefit of travelling in by train can be avoiding traffic jams at the beginning and end of the day especially when other large shows are on (Motorcycle Live starts on the Saturday for the week).

Note of caution about International Station car park - occasionally they take exception to exhibitions flooding their car park and switch the pay machines off so that you have to get your exit ticket from the counter - and show a valid rail ticket to avoid an excess charge.

In this case just buy a ticket to one of the two stations Andy mentioned!

Live in Cambridgeshire, probably going on the Saturday, but haven't finalised arrangements yet. I usually go via the A14/M6 to Tile Hill or Canley stations. I'm almost certainly travelling alone, and usually cover 95% of the day at the show so get a good look round. I may be able to offer a lift, so please do ask. Oh, and it will be even cheaper as I run on lpg (1/2 price motoring).

I can offer parking spaces on my drive, just a short walk to the no. 900 bus stop that will whisk you directly to the NEC in about thirty minutes. In keeping with the capitalist junta that exists at the glorified warehouse where the show is held, I can offer this service for just £5.95.
