Full Size Planning!
In order to refine the design and armed with a roll of Wickes linning paper and an assortment of C&L's templates, I've spent a productive day setting out the final full size trackplan. Everything appears to fit ok, but I'd love any advice/wisdom,if anyone can spot any potential problems! Having previously modelled in 4mm, I must admit I'm impressed with the size of 7mm. A B8 or B9 point is one heck of a lengthy beast, but I do think they add to the flow of the plan and hopefully the realism of the finished project. I've yet to finalise where the baseboards are going to be split, but I'm leaning towards 3 scenic boards of about 4 foot 6inches x 4 foot. Although still on the large side, I reckon they should be managable if carried by two people. Thanks to Mrs Wenlock for "allowing" me to move the conservatory furniture and make a big enough space to allow me to doodle in comfort.
Planning under the watchful eye of Henry, a veritable fount of knowledge regarding Great Western Railway working practices!
Looking one heck of a lot bigger than the 1/7th scale mock up!
I guess the planning is the easy bit, I've just got to find time to build it now! On the building note, I ordered some O MF 31.5mm gauges from Debs on Wednesday. I received them by return of post on Friday and must say what a beautifully machined product they are, thoroughly recomended!
Best wishes for now
