  1. They look brilliant Rich. Wonder how they (and you) will perform at an exhibition with Mr Knowitall breathing down your neck :-) Jerry

  2. As long as I don't need to couple them we'll be fine Maybe I can invite Mr Knowitall to step up or ask politely that he STFU. Kim and I have been known to hide at the back of the layout if he turns up:-) I still think its bonkers but, I know, onions!! Jerry

  3. Ssh. The men in white coats might hear you. I've made some mock screw couplings for various NPCS. Have a look in my gallery at the Siphon builds. They have just two links. It's just as well the brakes are on. We don't want them rolling off on their own. I drop enough stuff on the floor as it is! As long as I don't need to couple them we'll be fine Maybe I can invite Mr Knowitall to step up or ask politely that he STFU.

  4. Not wasted on me................ If ultimately you do decide to retire it, I am sure the replacement will be equally good and all layouts do have their time.

  5. Rich, As impressed as I am, I am beginning to think that you need some sort of help :-) I must however admit that they look mighty fine though. Could you form the bottom of the link (the narrow bit) by pushing the wire into a slot then bending the top to shape around another former placed over the top of the slot? (the gap being made good with a solder joint - perhaps smoking a joint might help too) :-) Ian

  6. Tim, if you don't want to or can't keep it, someone is bound to give you good money for it, in my estimation, which might help fund the next project? It's a lovely, wonderful creation and a source of great inspiration to many. Was that first show in Wells the one where I turned up and had a play with the lever frame and bell signals? You've never brought it to a Members Day at Taunton.... now there's a thought?!

  7. I hope not Tim, Clutton has always provided inspiration when my spirits have sagged. The fact that I now have over a hundred photos of Clutton in various stages of its life span says it all really. Things of beauty will always have their distractors. Clutton certainly does not look tired or worn, so the hell with 'them' and carry on regardless! Is it really 23 years old? Where the heck did that go? Mike

  8. Run a 'King' with 14 behind, set the points, put the controller on max then walk away & have an extended lunch... As you say most punters would never notice. HOWEVER 'Clutton' has also been seen & appreciated by many - trouble is they're rarely as vocal as the great unwashed... Regs Ian

  9. Very nice Rich. You may not notice much when they are running in a train but they will show up quite clearly with the stock in sidings. Don

  10. For Jon and Metroland - yet another update! I have moved the 'Addenda' to a completely new 'Posting' - as you will see the Bachmann Class 105 has smaller buffers than the Bachmann Class 108 which explains why the buffers on the Cravens will lock up on tighter curves. I should have spotted that earlier! Ray

  11. Rich- I'm looking forward to the working screw couplings on the batch build of coaches! - BTW the wargon's arn't going anywhere 'cos the vac pipes are separated! In all seriousness, these look really good. Well done.

  12. The mans mad, mad I tell you. He'll be climbing mountains next (because they're there!) Well done Rich - I've been re-contermplating using them on the 'EM' side. Think I'll give it a miss in 23mm! Regs Ian

  13. Hi Pete. Just finished a spectacularly unsuccessful testing session in which just about everything possible failed including one of the point crossing switches and the controller. Controller and loco alive again now. Layout will be mended another day. Off to watch a film.. with some err... hydraulic... refreshments on hand. Regards, Andy
