  1. Coated the decals with X-20A and gently pierce the decals with something sharp to allow it to get it underneath in the affected area and let it dry (mop off the excess if you use too much) - importantly don't touch the decals until it's dry and repeat it if necessary.

  2. Thanks for the photo. My wife struggled to identify the location even though we lived there for 30 years. If anyone is interested in seeing a Sentinel, there is a newly restored ex-Fry's loco at the Avon Valley Railway. Hardly been seen so far because it was delivered the week before shutdown. David

  3. Here is the entrance to the goods yard - before your houses were built. Ask Captain Kernow about my old Morris Minor ...

  4. David, Yes I'm afraid that you are very unlikely to get a response from Nick. A few of his models appeared on Ebay quite a few years ago and I was fortunate enough to purchase his 1P project. His Sentinel shunter also appeared at the same time along with some stock which went elsewhere. I contacted the vendor to ask about the models, but it turned out that he'd come in to possession of the models from a house clearance and that he had no knowledge of what had happened to the owner (Nick). No idea if the layout survived but I suspect not unfortunately, although I'd be very pleased to hear to the contrary. Best Wishes Paul

  6. Robin, You must have put the bits back on to good effect - it's running very nicely. An enthusiasts special or football supporters train, perhaps? Dave.

  8. I'm glad if this is useful to anyone tackling these kits. My methods are just what works for me, by no means gospel! Looking at the brake I built last year, I noticed that instead of soldering a nut to the bolster, I fixed the screw instead, so that the bogie is retained by the nut. I'm not sure which is better. I made a start on the sides tonight, so wlll report on them soon.

  10. I remember these, they were excitingly different from all the other Airfix sets, not least the buggies. I also remember the difficulties of painting them, nice work.
