  2. And a quick photo update of the loco, construction in progress The track is actually 3mm scale FS, i.e. 14.2mm gauge, that is more or less the right gauge and I had this display piece knocking around. The extended cab is not quite Brede, deliberately so, and the reason it is made from Plastikard is that it is intended to employ radio control. I will put more detail in a specific blog entry but this loco has a 3v motor, will have a 3v LiPo battery inside the boiler and a WiFi transceiver/controller chip in the coal bunker. The thin wire antenna will poke up into the cab space, hence the Plastikard upper sides rather than brass ones. I need to make a bigger smokebox and craft a better saddle for it than the cast one from the kit. Plus getting all the waggly bits of the motion sorted out.

  3. Mikkel You idea follows the projected Salisbury to Berk & Hants route which the GW produced a diagram for it joined the line near Woodbrough just West of Pewsey. A map was shown in the Rails across the Plain book. It followed the river Avon all the way north with a junction facing east at Woodbrough. Mike

  4. Thanks Mikkel, When I started 'Fun Town' I saw myself as a model maker taking a short break from traditional historic prototype model making but it's turned into a very long short break. I feel quite flattered that some members have catagorised some of my work as 'Steam Punk' and that's understandable with all those metal gears and pinions. Once the paint's are applied, the model's morph from 'Steam Punk' to 'Steam Fun'.

  5. I'm always excited to see you post, Snitzl. Seeing this latest development I began to think "steam punk", but it isn't really that. It's more unique and imaginative. Steam Jazz? Steam Rock and Roll? Whatever. No categories apply. Nothing like it in the whole wide world!

  6. This bank holiday weekend has seen the completion of the railmotor steam unit and I`m glad to say it fits into the body work without any problems..... The upright boiler part is held in place by two screws at the rear , so is removable for motor servicing despite all the pipe work.
