The Calder Vale Mineral Railway
I have been planning for a new layout for around 6 months. I say planning but it's really more mulling over ideas as there is as yet no trackplan.
Baseboards have been ordered so I know the size of the layout but that's about all. I always try to plan, whether using pencil and paper, or computer-based systems such as Anyrail, but I can never really get on with any of them. The only way is to get the baseboards and some track and start suffling the track and points aound.

This bit is rather dull but is important for future reliability.
Peco give instructions to remove a pair of wires on the underside of points if you wish to independently switch the polarity of the frog and not rely only on the contact made by the blades. I can't imagine anyone wanting to rely only on the contact of the blades but I like to go one step further than removing the wires.
I put the feed wires across the stock rails and the the fixed part of what becomes the blad
