I presume that they only managed to achieve this age by covering a very limited annual mileage. So much for the 'real world'. As they seem to have been used for transporting imported grain from Leith Docks to various distilleries a list of grain users mught prove to be of help for those wanting a 'might have been' scenario. Malt Whisky would be more likely to use locally grown barley. http://www.maltmadness.com/whisky/grain-whisky.html So any of these destinations can be justified. Two excellent links there, which will keep me occupied for hours in my little world of Scottish Social & Economic History Back on the wagons themselves for a minute for what seems an almost flippant question, what was the wheelbase of these?
