coachmann Posted April 16, 2011 Share Posted April 16, 2011 Watching these new locos in Manchester in 1960, I remember thinking that putting blue with traditional steam-age maroon coaches didn't quite work.The locos were a good advert for modernisation but the artist in me couldn't help thinking the coaches should have been painted in matching blue & white in the style of the Blue Pullman. Pennine MC Posted April 20, 2011 Share Posted April 20, 2011 Here's a few Mike, from David Quayle's excellent Flickr site: E3061, E3030, incidentally still with no yellow in 1965 and E3009 (which IIRC was the loco scrapped following the level crossing incident at Hixon), all taken 'platform ending' at Crewe.
