For those that know me, you will agree that I have more than a passing interest in modelling Network Rail test trains in 00. I think it's about time that I detailed my work to show that it isn't particularly difficult in many cases to convert a r-t-r item into something more accurately representing the prototype than just simply painting it yellow.

Here's an "easy win" project.
45mm removed from the middle of a Bachmann HTA gives you this. 45mm is the length of the middle hopper section.
There is a reason fro the offset cut between the underframe and body. The body had about 43mm removed.
One part of the underframe glued to it's matching upper body.
The reason for the overhang is so that the other half of the underframe can be lined up square with the already glued section.
Minor trimming/filing to get them to line
