Class 87 roof photos wanted

Has anyone got photos of the roof gear of class 87s? Ideally after pics of both standard 87s and of 87101.

Also I'm wondering, would an AC electrics sub-section be useful? We have Southern Electrics, and Diesel Hydraulics...

TIA

PM sent.

I can't find my source for roof photos of 87101 at the moment, but here are some of the model I started too many years ago. Note the transformer header tank is more like that of a 90 than an 86 or 87:

Also note that the two small vents modelled by Lima as "square mushrooms" are wrong, and towards the end some locos lost at least one, the hole being blanked over.

  • 1 year later...

I always thought that 87101 had the MCB shown above for a long time, but picture research seems to indicate it had air blast breakers in the early 80s and from 1989 onwards so the window for it having a class 90 style MCB is quite short, and that's a pain as I've modelled it with the MCB :(

Many years ago I was given a roof sketch (which I filed so efficiently I can't find it) that has an insulator which is in one of the grilles and not attached by busbars, the same picture research as above does seem to show three insulators on the right hand side near the pantograph end, two are obviously for the pantograph itself and the third is not shown clearly enough in any single pic (which is the reason I've not added any photo evidence - you need to look at about 20 pics including some grainy ones to acknowledge there is something).

Cheers
