This feed has been set up to tell everyone about the layout that the newly formed Herne Bay Baptist Church Model Railway Club is constructing. The club was started recently by a group of enthusiastic modellers based around the herne Bay Area who wanted to start modelling together to help each other develop there skills and share them with others whilst constructing an exhibition standard model railway.

The layout was born out of the idea that we wanted to create a fictional setting as our first project to allow us to discover each others skills and give us a chance to work together on a project. So Hampton-on-Sea was born. The layout is a branch line terminus station with a goods loading platform/secondary platform. To the other end of the layout is a loco shed, coaling stage and freight sidings.

this is the end idea for what we are working towards. Running will be basically anything steam era that fits on the layout. we are not area specific on this layout as we want all members to be able to run whatever stock/locos as they want.

The first progress pictures that will appear below are of the construction we have done so far.

Once we have completed this layout we plan to construct a second layout which will be as closely based on Herne Bay in the late 1950's as possible.

HBBCMRC is interested to hear from anyone in the modelling community who has any pictures, layout diagrams or any history of herne bay station in the 1950's. anything from the late 50's would be great but any information from the 50's would be appreciated.

if you have any info please post on this feed.
