The wait is over ( ) for it is now finished.
I glued on some cab spectacle rims (from Mainly Trains) and glazed the windows with glue 'n' glaze. I drilled a hole in the roof for the whistle and glued it in place. I've also glued some coupling hooks into the buffer beams with canopy glue so that I can remove later (if I want to).
Before fitting the chassis I glued into the cab some old Airfix figures.
