  1. It's Friday seems I've got lots planned for the weekend - but not a lot that I was aware of!

Probably will take ages to set up my new DVD player - my old DVD/VHS combi died in the week, and I can't find another for love nor money in Lancaster (I don't buy online), so I've got a cheapie DVD.

Can somebody here advise a bit - I have a BT Vision digibox connected to the Broadband, have rooted out my old VHS machine, and plan to add the new DVD to the stack - the major problem being that my TV has only one Scart socket. The old setup for the Scart leads was Video Combi out to Digibox in, DIgibox out to TV - it all worked fine.

If I extend this to DVD to video in, Video out to Digibox in, Digibox out to TV, is it likely to work, or would I be better to get a Scart switch box and manually switch between inputs? I'd prefer not to, as I like the simple life!

ps - eight octas of cloud here, and rain which is chucking it down intermittently.

  2. Bought a copy of Fretwork, by Chris Newman at his gig on Saturday night. Been on the CD machine and in the car ever since - absolutely stunning guitar work in a number of genres.

Also still listening to his album with his partner, Maire Ni Chathasaig, Firewire, which combines just as brilliant guitar work with very innovative use of the Irish harp (I neve heard one sound like a steel band drum before!)

  3. Morning - still wild here in Lancaster, wet and windy like a baby's bottom.

Many thanks to those who have offered advice on alternative therapy for the frozen shoulder - my GP has told me that the next step is a surgeon, but he's quite amenable to the less "conventional" routes, so I may well ask if he knows of a suitably qualified chropractor - honestly, some days I would go to a witch doctor if I thought it would help!

I hope I've sent a thanks acknowledgement to everybody who replied, apologies to anybody that I missed.

Keep plugging away with the exams, Dom, qualifications are a wonderful and useful thing.

  4. Hi y'all

Not posted on here for a few weeks, and certainly not an early rise!

The bad weather appears (for now) to have bypassed Lancaster again, and moved on into Cumbria, where they really did get a pasting over the last few days. My heart really goes out to anybody who is/was affected.

My employer (a major utility company) is throwing every resource into infrastructure repairs, but the bulletins are saying that this is going to be a long uphill struggle. In fact, they have declared that no compensation will be possible for loss of service as this situation was well outside of any direct control.

Me - well I have a wonderful frozen shoulder which is not responding to any treatment - I've just had my third (and most painful) cortisone injection into the joint - what with my flu jab, and swine flu jab, I'm starting to feel that my Doctor uses only needles for treatment - and not the nice gently acupuncture sort.

  5. Morning all - late finish last night followed by an early start this morning, not the best...

Lost BBC2 on the analogue telly on Wednesday, and the digital retune went pear shaped - I had to retune the box about four times to get all the channels.

Quiet weekend in prospect - probably a trip to Morrisons via the coal merchant is going to be the high spot - 'nuff said.
