  1. I have been having similar fun with my timetable. Four freightliners go in one direction, then all come back again. Luckily the track plan I am working on should have enough through roads to get away with one set too. Got two freightliner wagons so far, another six to go. Being further down the coast at Bangor I can work my timetable with three DMU and a couple of class 25 loco hauled replacements. :-)
  2. Good to see you back from your room refurb hiatus! Looks like the boards are going back together OK. The gloomy and cloudy backscenes will certainly add to the feel of Northwest England! :-) I hope you get the trains running again soon, I am missing the running session shots. My plans are on hold until the Spring, although I have cleared some of the detritus in the garage. An unexpected eye operation has forced a temporary halt to playing trains and planning the layout, but hopefully can get back to my snail like progress in the New Year.
  3. Congratulations on getting to 30 pages! It has been a great ride so far. It's probably about time I started a thread for my North Wales project in N gauge. It might actually spur me on into action! Maybe I will start with some photos of the space I will be using, once I get all the junk cleared out!
  4. I have gone for Summer 1983 for my 'official' timetable as the there were still a lot of 40s going up and down the coast then. That was also when the services to Scarborough started up which brought the class 45's across more often. I then have to bend the truth a little and pretend the Deltics and class 24's remained in service a bit longer. I am a bit of a loco collector, so there will be slots in the timetable for excursions, bringing in class 50's, 26's, 27's, 31's and 37's. I did consider pretending that Holywell Junction never closed in the 1960's and basing my station there to bring in all the Llandudno services, but then I hit the DMU crisis that you expereinced! I could have brought the class 150 and 156 into service a few years earlier, but that still only got me to five units. At least I can get away with DMU replacement services and use 25's and my fleet of 40's :-)
  5. Class 40s and the North Wales coast, perfect. I have 40 106 in N waiting off stage for when my proper layout gets built, plus another six of the English electric beasts!Should be getting started on preparing the room formerly known as the garage in a couple of weeks, then will finalise the track plan. The fiddle yard needs re-designing with more through roads like yours, to accomodate the freightliners all going one way, then the other. At least I have my timetable done, copying your example, and I only need three DMUs for Bangor's timetable!
  6. Hi I have enjoyed reading through your thread and seeing the progress you have been making. so much so that I finally signed up to RMweb to comment. I like the whole back story to how Christleton Junction came to be. I have been planning my own North Wales coast layout in N gauge for the past 10 years and after three house moves I am finally going to have a dedicated space to start building. I am slightly earlier than you and setting my station somewhere between 1981 and 1984, due to my love of the class 40 hauled holiday trains. It also means I can make use of the wealth of timetable information on 2D53.co.uk, a lot of the passenger and freight workings are the same as in your timetable. I started with customised plans for both Holyhead and Bangor for my location, but have taken inspiration from you and started putting together a back story about how Holywell Junction station defied the Beeching cuts and stayed open. The presence of the Courtaulds factory attracted more business to the area and numerous housing developments. The rest of the back story is still to be written! Thanks for all the inspiration and ideas you have given over the last 27 pages. I look forward to seeing how Christleton continues to develop and now i have the challenge of playing catch up and getting some track on baseboards. It's about time I had a decent bit of track to run all the stock I have collected over the years. Regards Mark
