everybody.
I have been looking forward to getting my hands on a model of 46256 for quite some time and it seems that there aren't any examples of the model to be had anywhere.
I read somewhere that Hornby have halved the amount of models that they have sent to the uk, and as a result they are rare the the proverbial hen's tooth, is this the case?
I only hope that Hornby send more examples over as, I'm sure I'm not the only one who is finding it hard to get hold of one.

Dart castings are doing the J88 etches from the old Falcon Brass range.
There are no castings apparently.
I have ordered one and will update when it arrives. (Approx 6 weeks).

Well for my j88 conversion i used a dome from their old j83 and the chimney was from my bits and pieces box but the j83 chimney could be made to fit, it would need shortening but that isnt too difficult.

Am I reading too much into the yellow primer?
Don’t worry its just a primer (filler primer) i thought id give it a try as one of my other club members recommend it. In due course the loco will be black, although one other member said why not go for full north british livery but I’ll stick to lner lined black which is far easier.Am I reading too much into the yellow primer?

Another project on the way, a barely started riceworks kit of a d51 picked up at the Dundee show for not a lot of money at all. The loco is progressing nicely, the body is all but complete just needing the steps reattached as these were separated from the running plate fret and a new valance either side as, who ever had started the loco had well and truly ruined the valance but, this will be replaced soon. The original lost wax some was replaced by a Hornby sr 700 dome which is the same size and a nicer/crisper moulding. Also the motor and proper wheels have been fitted and the loco has ran tonight (albeit as an 0-4-0 but typically my fone died and was unable to get a shot of the loco.

a strange one for me to be asking, my other half was watching emmerdale the other night during the jump scene (i never watch it as it intrudes on modelling time.
she was wondering where the bridge is in the scene when "emma" fell aff.
can anybody shed some light on this please as i am not to familiar with the area, being a nbr modeller.
many thanks

Again more progress has been made with the glendevon extension with all droppers in and also point motors but a start has yetto be made on the wiring proper. Above the station buildings are progressing steadily with the slates being added gradually (takes a while doing them one at a time), the main station building has also had its first coats of paint, also the signal box has had some painting done.

A little more progress on my pdk glen, buffer beams painted (first coat) and spring buffers fitted. The bogie has been painted as has the tender chassis, im leaving painting the loco chassis til last as i like to make sure everything is as it should be before finishing the chassi of. The cab interior will need painting but isnt a priority at the moment although, id like to fully paint the inside cab sheets and backhead as far as possible but its down the list, i may do it before lining out etc.

I am planning to model the eastern region (running into edinburgh), one other member at my local club has done a set in the executive livery. And so im doing the earlier version.

I am thinking of doing a "now for something completely different" project, I usually model ex nbr locos etc but im looking for a little change, not convering to the more modern image but just fancy a little diversion as it were.
Im looking to model one of the original hst formations of the late 70's in original livery/condition. I have acquired the end cars one poweredand one not (although the dummy is going to be motorised also) but need to work out a typical formation. The trouble is that i know about early hst formations as a giraffe knows about gardening.
Can and kind rmwebber help here with where to look or even a pic with the formations etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sentinel "Crinan Distillery No.2" waits for the signal to come off to collect some grain hoppers.
Ive just came across this pic very nice, i like the bridge railing much better than just a plain sheet, is it home made?
Also have you any more pics of the layout please

A few snaps of my almost complete 60085 manna which had a stint on the route from 64a before withdrawal. The loco was originally a tender drive example but had been converted to loco drive complete witha new tender chassis and narrowed tender body.
And another which has been converted from a railroad flying scotsman into 60099 call boy, in similar fashion to my recent conversion into spearmint ie using a railraod p2 tender which keeps the cost down. I had originally intended to have the loco with double chimney, elephant ears and late crest but i have currently run out of double chimneys so for the moment the loco is in a slightly earlier condition.

Thanks for the kind words, the chimney is from my bits n pieces box, as is the dome. If I remember correctly the chimney is from a gresley v1/v3 and as for the dome I honestly cannot remember. I have some spare gem chimneys and domes but i thought these looked too tall for the loco. The dome may be from a j39 or j38 etc as the done was certainly similar to the one removed from the gbl j39 boiler.Agree – you’ve managed to capture that “massive” look which was so characteristic of the J37s: I always felt the boiler in the NB Models kit (see pic at post 305 above) looked a bit under-nourished especially at the cab end. So on my 2 kits I’ve done some rather crude jiggery-pokery to fatten the boiler by flattening the 2 halves slightly and then gluing it together with the insertion of 60thou packing between the halves. There then followed a lot of filling, filing and rubbing-down, especially with the 2nd kit which had a lot of casting flash. The results seem to have made the effort worthwhile and I’ll post some pics IDC.

What chimney and dome did you use? I thought the ones from the NB Models kit looked a little too tall, which also served to emphasise the slimness of the boiler.

My old kingfisher (must be over ten years old now) has had a repaint, together with a new late crest tender and double chimney in order to bring the loco in line with all my other a4’s. The loco has also had much extra weight added, together with new pick ups as the loco has run at every show that newcastleton has been to and many many laps at the club. So much running that the pick ups had worn through and have been replaced with .45 nickle silver wire. The loco once again runs beautifully again and managed 14 mk1’s on thursday so that’ll do for me.
